Reporting Positive Covid tests over Christmas
(Posted on 16/12/20)
Dear Parents and Carers,
There has been much discussion in the media over the past few days about the government giving schools a PD day on Friday, 18 December and therefore closing on Thursday, 17 December. We have decided that, for a number of reasons, we will stay open on Friday until 3pm as usual. We felt that the announcement was a little late and had already finalised our end of term arrangements and, having communicated this to you, we felt it was important to honour our previous arrangements.
I would like to inform you of the following guidance too:
- Should your child(ren) develop symptoms or has a positive test on either Friday, 18 Saturday, 19 or Sunday, 20 December then you MUST let us know. Could you please do this by using my email address: firstname.lastname@example.org. I may need to call you back when I receive the message.
- If your child(ren) develops symptoms or tests positive outside of this time period please use the NHS Track and Trace system. You do not need to let us know unless they are continuing to self-isolate once we return to school on Monday, 4 January. This is because it will have been longer than 48 hours since they were in school and will therefore, not affect any other staff or students. Please note that as of Monday, 14 December, the isolation period is only 10 days.
Thank you for your continued support and I sincerely hope it will not be needed for any family over the festive period. I hope you all have a well-earned rest and have the opportunity to spend it with loved ones.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of the staff at William Brookes School.
