Message from the Head

(Posted on 13/05/20)

It is with great sadness that I have to share news of two deaths:

Ellie Hall an ex student has sadly passed after a fight against cancer. She only left school five years ago and this is a tragic loss of a young life and very kind person. I know this will have had a massive impact on some of our more recent ex students who will have shared many happy times with her.

The second was the very sad loss of Maths teacher and Assistant Head Don Steward. Don worked for a long time in Shropshire and had a massive effect on the teaching of maths across the county. We were fortunate to have Don work for us at WBS for four years but he had a massive impact on the school. He was an outstanding practitioner and worked incredibly hard for students at the school. He was a leading teacher trainer who provided support and resources to many staff in Shropshire schools and was always full of life. I know that many people will have many memories of their time working with or being taught by him. Don was a character that you would not forget and changed things for the better, developing teaching in all areas of the school. A true professional who will be sadly missed. If anyone would like to send a message to the family we are happy to pass it on via this link.

We would like to pass on our deepest sympathies to all family and friends.

Kind regards

Geoff Renwick
