Celebrating Academic Achievements: William Brookes School GCSE and Sixth Form Results

GCSE results

2023 results

  • 14% of grades were 7+ (equivalent of A/A*)
  • 58% of students achieved GCSE grade 4+ in English and Maths

We would like to congratulate the students taking exams in June 2023, they have not had an easy time with covid disrupting their education and exam boards raising many grade boundaries.

Our students have had to work incredibly hard to achieve these results with the pandemic having significantly disrupted their learning over the past two years. They have had to demonstrate huge resilience amongst all this and should be hugely proud of what they have achieved.

Special mentions go to students who all achieved an average of Grade 8 or above across the subjects that they studied. Huge congratulations must also go to students who made truly excellent progress achieving at least two grades better than expected across the subjects that they studied.

Sixth Form

Stephen Richards, Headteacher commented that ‘these students have shown remarkable resilience over the past three years; with their learning being interrupted by lockdowns during KS4. For this cohort, this was their first set of external examinations that they have sat since taking their Primary School SATS. For these young people to achieve these results is nothing short of remarkable and is a fitting reward for all of their hard work. All of us at William Brookes School are incredibly proud of their achievements and of the contributions that they have collectively made to their school during their time with us. Our students have been successful in securing a wide range of exciting destinations including Russell Group Universities and degree level apprenticeships. We wish them every success in the next stage of their lives’.

Our Sixth Form team are delighted to be able to say that 20/29 students have been successful in securing their first-choice university destinations. Of the remaining 8, all have now secured a place. Students have secured places at a wide range of destination including Bath, Sheffield, Liverpool, Chester and Liverpool Universities, studying courses as diverse as History, International Politics and Language; Paramedical Science and Primary School Education. Some students have been successful in gaining places on degree apprenticeships.
