Inclusive Support for All: William Brookes School's SEN/D Principles
William Brookes School’s beliefs around SEN/D are based on the following principles from the SEN Code of Practice:
- Involving children, parents and young people in decision-making; that children, young people and their families are given sufficient information and have a say around their SEN provision is a priority;
- Collaboration across education, health and social care, should be led and coordinated by the local authority;
- How we can help in supporting the transition to adulthood; the SEN Code extends to twenty five for those remaining in education or training.
We believe that all children and young people are entitled to an education that enables them to make progress so that they;
- Achieve their best;
- Become confident individuals, leading fulfilling lives;
- Make a successful transition to adulthood, whether into employment, further or higher education or training.
We are a fully inclusive school and we are committed to student support. We believe that it is paramount that a young person feels safe and happy. This will ensure that they achieve their potential personally, socially, emotionally and academically in all areas of the curriculum (regardless of their gender, ethnicity, social background, religion, sexual identity, physical ability or educational needs).
