At Key Stage 4 we offer two categories of offsite learning for our students, work experience and college courses.
This is a chance to do a vocational placement for one day a week in a working environment. The placement has to be arranged through school but can be originally organised via one of your own contacts. This is only suitable for certain students and will be agreed by negotiation with the school. The EBP (Education Business Partnership) have to do an assessment of the placement and ensure that liability insurance is in place before full agreement can be made.
At present we are able to offer courses in Construction and Service & Maintenance Engineering (Idsall School) and Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy (Oldbury Wells School, closed to new entrants, course ends August 2019). These courses are available to a limited number of students. Students who are currently achieving below level 5 at the end of KS3 are suitable for the course. It is not recommended for students who should achieve a grade C or more at GCSE level. In addition students who are a little anxious about the more traditional curriculum of 9 full GCSEs may find this course to their liking.
